Scout Story:
According to the International Harvester Line Set Ticket, this Scout was built on September 28, 1976, and
transferred to an International Harvester Company dealership in Sparks, NV. The Scout was originally
purchased in Nevada by its first owner and then relocated to Lake Arrowhead, California. It resided in Lake
Arrowhead until it was sold and purchased by the second owner in early 2000s who resided in Hollywood, Ca.
The current owner purchased the Scout in March 2015 and has owned it since. During this time the drive train,
suspension, exterior, interior, electrical, and all mechanicals of the Scout were upgraded and restored to its
current state. The Scout was in California until August 2024 and now resides in Washington. The owner
purchased this vehicle while living in Venice Beach, California. The Scout was used as a daily driver,
commuting from Venice Beach to El Segundo and Venice Beach to Mammoth Lakes, California. The miles
represented on the odometer reflect those that have been placed on the new drive train. Many of the miles
represented are a result of long road trips, averaging over 700 miles per trip. The Scout has been driven from
Ames, Iowa to Venice Beach, Venice Beach to Mammoth Lakes (multiple trips), Los Angeles to San Francisco,
Ca, Los Angeles to Yosemite National Park, Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe, Ca and Los Angeles to Bainbridge
Island, Wa.
The Scout is a driver and purpose-built restomod. The owner worked with Anything Scout in Ames, Iowa on the
engine conversion. The main priorities were to build a Scout that could be reliable, fuel efficient and meet all
licensing and smog requirements in California state and beyond. The Scout has successfully gone through the
CA State BAR Referee inspection process and received the appropriate documentation to be legally smogged
with its new engine. The LS3 eRod is “a compromise-free package that delivers great power and efficiency,
with the emissions of a modern vehicle." The LS3 eRod is a 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine, rated at 430
horsepower and 424 lb-ft of torque. This is the same base engine found in the Camaro SS and Corvette.
The owner worked with IH Parts America to do a comprehensive overhaul of all the electrical, suspension and
brake system on the Scout in 2020. Most recently, DVF Custom Designs did a frame on restoration of the
exterior of the truck over a 2-yr period that included removing, repairing and replacing sheet metal prior to
painting the Scout in its original color, Grenoble Green.
